Pastor's Message:
5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER

EASTER

33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Posted on November 14th, 2011 in Pastor's Message

In one of comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s monologues, he describes the pre-takeoff routine performed by airline attendants. The demonstration of how the seat belt works is valuable – for those who haven’t ridden in a car since 1965…

At the end of it all, Jerry describes the retreating flight attendant closing the little curtain that separates first-class from coach. She gives the people in coach one last look that seems to say, “Maybe if you had worked a little harder, I wouldn’t have to do this.”
Today’s Gospel tells us that the first class travelers, those who have, will get even more. But those who have nothing, in coach, may even have their little bag of peanuts taken away. The flight attendant at the first class curtain looks out at us today, saying, “Maybe if you had worked a little harder….”
