TWENTY SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

TWENTY SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

October 4, 2009 Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gospel: Mark 10:2-16

Despite the fact that Jesus said people “will not separate what God has joined together,” men and women are doing a lot of separating these days. Studies say that nearly half of the marriages in the United States end in divorce. More and more unmarried couples are just living together. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 38 percent of all first births are to unmarried couples. Our church teaches that God is the author of marriage. Marriage is one of the seven sacraments; it is a divine institution that can never be broken. It makes one wonder how we have strayed so far from what God willed for us.
