TWENTY FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

TWENTY FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Englishman Damian Aspinall heads a foundation that works to preserve endangered species of wild animals in the jungles of Africa.  Five years ago, Aspinall raised a gorilla named Kwibi and returned him to the wild.  Later, Aspinall returned to Gabon and, traveling upriver by boar, miraculously relocated his old friend, all 500 pounds of him.  Aspinall and the gorilla sat together, sharing a leaf, making gurgling sounds and embracing each other.

The Gospel reflects on the joy of reunion as the prodigal son comes home to the father, the lost sheep is found and the lost coin is recovered.
