EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
February 27th, 2011
Three men, finally enjoying their retirement, were worrying about what their grandchildren might say about them 50 years from now. They were afraid they had not taken enough time to be good grandparents. The first man said, “I would like them to say, “He was successful in business.” “Fifty years from now,” said the second, “I want them to say, “He was a really goo grandfather.” The third declared, ” I want them all to say, “He certainly looks good for his age!”
We spend a lot of our life worrying about things we have no control over. Why can’t we just “let go and let God?” The Gospel reading for today warns us, “Let tomorrow take care of itself. Today has troubles enough of its own.”
If we truly have faith that our loving God will take care of us, then our life will take care of itself. And, after we’re gone, everyone will say, “This was a person of great faith.”
