3RD SUNDAY OF EASTER
Two disciples encounter a stranger on the road to Emmaus. Later they come to realize he is Jesus. The Gospel affirms what many know by their own personal experience. Many families have stories of after death appearances of their loved ones. The promise of new life is affirmed in our vigils and funerals. Apparitions of Mary and after death appearances of many saints are further testament to the bridge between life and death. Just as we can sense the presence of a loved one through nature, a sunrise or a breath of wind, so too can Jesus be known on our own Road to Emmaus and in the breaking of the bread at this Eucharist.
