3RD SUNDAY IN ADVENT

3RD SUNDAY IN ADVENT

You may have heard the story about the young boy who thought John the Baptist’s middle name was Harold. He was confused over the words of Isaiah describing John as a “herald” in the desert. You may have also heard that later this same kid thought God’s name was may have also heard that later this same kid thought God’s name was Harold, too. He argued, “It’s right there in the prayer when we say “Our Father, who art in heaven, Harold is thy name!”
Today’s Gospel is about God’s real name. John the Baptist testifies to the real light that is coming into the world. John declares that he is “a voice in the desert crying out to make straight the way of the Lord.”
And his name shall be Emmanuel, which means “God is with us!”
