5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
There are thousands of varieties of wine, but some people look only for the cheapest price. They just call this cheap stuff “Muskadoodle.”
In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls his disciples to abide with him. He uses the analogy of the vineyard to tell them that they are the branches and he is the vine. He asks us all to stay connected to the true vine. We are to preserve the original Christian vintage that he pours out for us.
Jesus, looking down the future centuries to come, foresaw the prospect of myriad varieties. He wanted to ensure that we didn’t end up as Muskadoodle.
