6/14/09 Solemnity – Most Holy Body and Blood of ChristGospel: Mark 14:12-16“This is my body. This is my Blood.”Three years after Christopher Columbus discovered America, Leonardo da Vinci, then 43 years old, began to paint his vision of the Last Supper on the wall of the dining room in the Santa Maria delle Gracie Church in Milan, Italy. It took him three years to complete. Today, his work has launched a vast commercial enterprise. If you go to Target you can buy a jigsaw puzzle of the mural for $12.99 or a poster for $24.99 or a framed 22 inch print for $159.99. If you happen to be in Milan, you can see the restored mural as part of a walking tour for $71 per person. Bur for us here today, we need only hear the Gospel again and close our eyes to see this world-changing moment in our mind. Or even better, we can participate in the Last Supper at this Mass by receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, which was first given to us that day.Deacon Dick Folger
