PALM SUNDAY
Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem has many historical parallels in which public acclaim precedes tragedy and violence. We remember Aug. 28, 1963, when 250,000 Americans arrived in Washington, where they heard a man named King proclaim, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” Yet just months later, President John F. Kennedy was dead, and within five years Martin Luther King Jr. had also been killed. Even as he was entering the city ot shouts of “Hosanna,” Jesus had less than a week to live.
