3rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, “South Pacific”, the characters sing, “Some Enchanted Evening, you will see a stranger, you will see a stranger, across a crowded room.” They lyric continues that “you know,” even then, that he is the one. It concludes, “Once you have found him, never let him go.”
Such was the case for the disciples. Their lyrics could say: “One enchanted afternoon, the fishermen saw a stranger. They saw him from across the water, and he invited them to follow him. And somehow they knew, even then. Once they had found him, they never let him go.”
In our busy lives, we may be like the fishermen. When Jesus comes passing by, and when he calls to us, may we have the gift to know and to follow.
