MOST HOLY TRINITY

MOST HOLY TRINITY

Mountains challenge us to climb them. We’ve now conquered them all, even the highest mountain in the world. In 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to reach the top of Mount Everest, 29,020 feet above the earth. Maybe mountaintops are special because there you can find the solitude necessary to encounter God. Moses climbed the mountain alone and found God at the top amid the clouds and smoke and thunder. Jesus called the disciples to a mountaintop to witness his transfiguration.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls the disciples to the mountaintop to commission them to make disciples of all nations.
