6th SUNDAY OF EASTER
The 1967 “Peanuts” animated TV special “You’re in Love, Charlie Brown” tells of his obsession with the Little Red Haired Girl. Charlie has been secretly infatuated with her for years. He’s always been too chicken to approach her. Once, she dropped her pencil in the hallway and Charlie picked it up. It had tooth marks on it, and Charlie exclaimed, “She’s human”
After he makes several failed attempts to talk with her, she stuffs a note into Charlie’s hands as she boards the school bus. Thinking he has ruined his final chance at meeting her, Charlie reads the note: “I like you, Charlie Brown. Signed, the Little Red Haired Girl.”
Jesus stuffs a note in our hands. It reads; “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.” Let’s join Charlie and skip all the way home.
