FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
5/02/10 Fifth Sunday of Easter
After giving her catechism class a very thorough lesson on the Ten Commandments, the teacher quizzed her students. “What was the First Commandment?” She asked. No one answered, so she called on a boy who was staring into space. He clearly hadn’t been paying attention to the lesson. The boy thought a bit, “The First Commandment,” he answered, “was when Eve told Adam to eat the apple.” In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives the disciples a new commandment. He tells his followers to love one another as he has loved us, explaining that by this love we will be known as his disciples.
