Nuncio: papal trip underlines that good prevails over evil
(Vatican Radio) The Apostolic Nuncio to Albania, Archbishop Ramiro Moliner Inglés, says the visit of Pope Francis to the Mediterranean country on Sunday will serve to underline that good prevails over evil and that it is indeed possible for people of different religions to peacefully co-exist.
In an interview with Vatican Radio, the archbishop made the distinction between the law under the former communist regime in Albania and its citizens. Whereas the law made the practice and discussion of religion illegal, many people still held onto their faith, he said.
“Many people… were ready to die for their faith. And because of this, the Pope comes just to honour also those who gave their life in order to defend and protect the faith,” he said.
“I think that the Holy Father comes also to underline that at the end, at the end, the good will prevail (over) evil. Even in the … darkest circumstances… If we have the faith very strong in the Word of God and in the Providence of God, we Christians and Muslims also, according to their religion, this faith is what keeps us alive,” he said.
